Mary Casey Steiger, P. T.

Mary has been the Director of the Physical Therapy Center of Vermont since its inception in 2001. She has been a practicing Physical Therapist and has had many administrative positions over the course of her 25-year career in Physical Therapy.

Mary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from St. Michael’s College in Vermont. Mary graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey in 1981 with a degree/certificate in Physical Therapy. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Passaic, New Jersey first as a Staff Physical Therapist, and then worked as Assistant Chief and Chief of the Physical Therapy Department from 1981 to 1991.

In 1984, Mary became the Assistant Director and co-owner of Alpha Physical Therapy in Rutherford, New Jersey. Her responsibilities were both clinical and administrative. She secured many outside partnerships with local nursing homes, school systems and sports teams. Mary also worked on a per diem basis at the Meadowlands Hospital with orthopaedic surgery patients on weekends.

After moving to Vermont in 1995, Mary began working at Associates in Occupational & Physical Therapy and with Sports and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation until 2001.

She has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Orthopaedic & Private Practice Sections for 25 years. Mary is also a member of the Advisory Board for the University of Vermont School of Allied Health and Nursing. She practices as a Physical Therapist part time, primarily with orthopaedic and geriatric patients.

Mary is very focused on providing quality physical therapy services and cultivating in the community, partnerships to provide physical therapy where no services are available. Physical Therapy Center of Vermont has partnered with the Multiple Sclerosis Society and Parkinsons Association, and many others, to provide group sessions where no other services are available.

Mary enjoys golfing, traveling and being involved with her children’s activities. She loves spending time with friends & family and believes laughter is the first step in healing.
